Doran grew up on a Registered Angus ranch where he began cross-breeding cattle in 1973. By the mid 1980's the program had evolved into a Chi-Maine show cattle herd, which formed the base for the quality club calves he produces today.

Although the industry has seen many changes through the years, Doran's philosophy of breeding for strong maternal genetics remains successful. Many current cow families go back five generations in this herd and are bred for stout, structurally sound, easily sustainable females with genetically low birth weights and outstanding milking ability. In Doran's program, powerful maternal pedigrees are the foundation for producing standout sires, breeding stock, and show calves alike.
